Bro Halff debuts two books about North Dakota

North Dakota is the subject of award-winning artist and poet Bro Halff’s latest two books, which debuted in January, 2020. Each book is filled with vibrant watercolors, insightful prose sketches, and enjoyable poems, describing the state and its people. Both books are based upon Mr. Halff’s experiences during his thirty years in the state. 

For almost half a century, Bro Halff has been writing, painting, and sculpting. A number of his works have won awards at exhibits throughout the country. His watercolors depict, with radiant colors and bold composition, rural, urban, and small-town America. Mr. Halff currently resides in Bismarck, North Dakota and Kauai, Hawaii.

The two books, entitled North Dakota Days and North Dakota Travels, capture the beauty and friendly spirit of North Dakota. Both books are available in hard cover and paperback editions. His art is shown at Gallery 522 in Bismarck, and was featured in a special exhibit at the Bismarck Art and Galleries Association (BAGA) in 2021.

Biography:

Bro Halff is a North Dakota and Hawaii artist who is known for his watercolors and poetry. Born in 1946, he was raised in Dallas, Texas, and educated in Texas, New Hampshire, Maryland, and California. He has lived in Bismarck, Dallas, Washington, DC, Kansas City, the Bahamas, Spain, Peru, Baltimore, Malibu, San Diego, and Hawaii. Since 1978, he has worked as a writer, editor, artist, and publisher. The central theme of his poetry is the celebration of human diversity and of nature. His watercolors depict, with radiant colors and bold composition, rural, urban, and small-town America. A number of his works have won awards at juried exhibits, and are routinely shown throughout the country. He recently completed two books of poetry, prose sketches ,and watercolors of North Dakota, entitled North Dakota Days and North Dakota Travels. Another work of poetry and pen-and-ink drawings, Seasonal Delights, has been published by the Mellen Poetry Press. San Diego Days and San Diego Visions are his latest books, appearing in September, 2021. Mr. Halff currently resides in Bismarck, North Dakota, and on Kauai, in Hawaii.
